Cal State Stanislaus ranks high in Directors Cup final standings
CLEVELAND ? The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics announced the annual final standings of the Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup this week ? and Cal State Stanislaus finished 88th out of 244 programs.
The Warriors tallied 212.50 points with 142.50 points earned during the Spring based on the success of the golf (82.50 points) and track and field (42 points men, 18 points women) programs in the NCAA postseason. The Warriors had earned 24 points (women's soccer) in the Fall and 45 (women's indoor track and field) in the Winter seasons.
Cal State Stanislaus is the fourth-best rated team among California Collegiate Athletic Association institutions, behind only No. 7 UC San Diego (645), No. 8 Chico State (600) and No. 53 Cal State L.A. (284.50).
For the first time since the 2003-04 season, Grand Valley State is not top program in Division II. GVSU's eight-year run was ended by Grand Canyon, which garnered 925.50 points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's top finish in up to 14 sports ? seven women's and seven men's.
