Banners Broker accused of being Ponzi scheme - Investigations

Accountant Philip Hendy has suffered a terrible campaign of abuse after raising questions about an online marketing opportunity.

Banners Brokers sells itself as a way of making money from online "banner" adverts, but after joining Philip came to the conclusion that it was more like a pyramid or Ponzi scheme.

"It appears to rely more on new affiliates joining rather than attracting advertisers," said Philip, from Devizes, Wilts.

"It was sold to me as a punt for a 'tank of petrol' in cost.

"I wouldn't normally touch an online 'opportunity' but because so many people I knew were doing it I felt it should be OK."

Philip paid an initial ?90, followed by ?435 for an upgraded package and that's when the problems started.

"It is only when you are in it that you realise referrals are the only real way to grow the business.

"I started talking about where the money actually comes from because the advertising revenues just didn't seem to stack up and I was banned from that forum for being 'too negative'.

"I've also had lies posted online about me, saying I had stolen a client's money and slept with someone else's wife."

Banners Brokers is a US operation, the UK arm being run by 58-year-old Ian ?Driscoll, pictured above, who is based in Leamington Spa, Warks, .

He hasn't responded to our questions.
